Hi,
I have been searching and searching for leg bands for my chickens with the year on them, I desperatly am needing 2013 bands in size 9 for this years hatches, I find this important for me to keep a tab on how old and whos who.

If you know where I can find these or what I can do instead, that would be great!

Thank you!

What about using cable ties of certain colors to denote certain years?

Cable ties are cheap, easy to put on, easy to take off, and are available in a wide range of colors.

White for 2013

Black for 2014

Red for 2015

Yellow for 2016

,,, and so on.

Or, use red to mark chickens that have bad habits that you want to watch.

I caught one of my rhode island reds eating an egg, so I put a cable tie around her leg. The tie has about 1/4 - 3/8 inch slack between the leg.

I use aluminum numbered bandettes. I personally like to be very hands on with my birds so handling them and looking up the info on the bird with that particular number band in my little book is quick and easy for me.

I've boughten mine off EBAY. There are plenty of sizes if you just type in Chicken Bands.
We only have a small flock so just use ours to distinguish which gal is which (mostly for the kids sake).

Plastic colored numbered bands from Cutler Supply. Different color for each year. Very easy.
This is what we do. Not Cutler Supply, but another supplier. We also categorize by leg, so we can have a hen that's "named" W35R (white 35 right).
