Hello,
I have a two-year-old RIR that lately has a messy butt so I took her in the house to clean her back end and once her feathers were wet, noticed her abdomen was yellow. Are they all this color or can she have liver problems and jaundice? She’s eating, drinking and acting normal. Not sure why she’s had messy butt, maybe a fungal infection?
Any advice is always much appreciated!

Rhode Island Reds have a yellow skin color, but it would be good to see what you are seeing so photos would be helpful.

For messy bottom, some hens can get poop stuck on there if they are extra fluffy. At 2yrs old she may be beginning to molt too? I would look her over for lice/mites just to be sure that's not a problem.
Sometimes as hens get a bit older, they don't shoot the poop as far so they can get a bit messy at times.

Is she laying eggs regularly?
