Having access to something green to eat, like grass or alfalfa, will give the yolks more color. It is illegal in the USA to feed chickens or cows hormones and has been for a long time. They do give them antibiotics though.

They say that but it's not true. All major farms that sell chicken meat or eggs use hormones to help increase growth and egg production. There is many other things in the U.S. that they tell us but it's all propaganda.

That's absolutely correct. Everyone with common sense knows that when they advertise their eggs and meat as hormone and antibiotic free, it just means that they aren't charging extra for those ingredients.

I would like to see the studies that you got this information from. Do you have link to back your post here?

I'm an egg farmer. There are no synthetic hormones available that will increase the lay rate of a hen. They are already pushing the physiological limits of production with selective breeding.

There are synthetic hormones available for bovines and sheep, but they have very little effect on poultry and hogs and are banned for use in poultry and hogs in the U.S.

The single, most widely used growth enhancers are antibiotics.

Actually being an egg farmer, or more specifically an organic egg farmer, does not add credibility here Organic egg farmers are known to stretch the government rules to absurd lengths amd mislead the consumers. Judy's Family Farm Organic Eggs and Petaluma Egg Farms are classic examples.
