Okay, I'll worm them. For either one (Valbazen or Safeguard) does the dosage go by weight?

This is not like an antibiotic where the dose must be adequate to treat the entire system. A worming med goes to the intestine where the worms are living and knocks them out. Follow the instruction @Eggcessive provided.

Valbazen 1/2 ml is a general dose for a 4-6 pound hen. Or you can weigh and give 0.08 ml per pound. SafeGuard dosage is 0.23 ml per pound, or about 1.25 ml for a 5 pound hen. Those are both very safe, and if you give a little too much, it is okay.

My birds are mostly 1 1/2 years old, with one 4 year old. Eight birds total.

I have never dewormed. They have never had worms, to my knowledge.

It didn't really look like blood, so I hope it's just some intestinal lining. I've seen similar, especially in the meat birds.

They all have worms, that's why we worm them. It's just not an issue unless the load gets high. Same with dogs etc.

Last question: Do either have an egg withdrawal period? If so, can I feed the eggs back to the chickens?

Fenbendazole does not have a withdrawal period.
