I have a chick who is about 4 weeks and was very lethargic this morning. she didn't squirm when I picked her up. She just wanted to lay and sleep. Her rump is tucked and once she had a yellowish liquid come out of her vent. Her poops are normal shaped but are more of a coral color and seem sticky. I have pictures that I can post as soon as I get home. I isolated her and made her some mash with probiotics but I don't think she likes it very much. Please help!! Is she contagious?

okay ...here are her poop pictures. before these poops (which i'm thinking are normal looking but need substantiation) i wiped a clear, yellowish liquid off of her bottom that had just come out of her vent. i don't know what it was and didn't get a pic. She won't eat the mash i made but will eat her crumbles. she is perkier this afternoon but still keeps her tail down.
i'm not sure if the left poop is normal. .it was a funny color. sorry for the strange underlining but i can't get it to stop.

Is she sitting around all poofed up? If so, I would treat her and her mates for coccidiosis. You can get Corid at most feed stores and you just mix it up in their water. Until then, probiotics and electrolytes will go a long way to helping her feel better :)

Yes, she even walks around all poofed up. I completely changed the brooder litter on Sunday and gave them clean litter. I thougt havin dirty litter could cause this. Did I do something wrong that they might have this?

You didn't do anything wrong. Sometimes, I think they come from the hatchery with it. I've bleached and scrubbed and scrubbed more and still have had chicks come down with it. You are a good chicken mommy...you asked for help when you noticed one wasn't feeling well! Good job.

Thanks for the advice because when i went out this afternoon i noticed that everyone was laying around which is very unusual for them. Thankfully I was able to find a feed store and they stayed open a few minutes late to let me buy the medicine. I'm so thankful that they did that! I have the medicine in their water so hopefully things will be looking up tomorrow.
