I'd examine first, then determine which course of treatment needed.
If it's canker, then you want to use Metronidazole, for thrush you want to use an anti-fungal (Nystatin, Miconazole, Fluconazole, etc.)
His crop is emptying completely overnight correct?
Despite Mic's best protests, we were able to examine him last night. His mouth and throat are clean - no buildup, no obstructions. If there's anything it would be further down than we could see. There is no odor, either. His tongue is turning back to its usual black with a little yellow/white at the back. I will keep an eye on it. He is still gurgling/drooling up the Baytril and salivating at the slight pressure on his throat.
The swelling is interesting. Some of it is standard swelling and it has decreased, but some of it is air trapped under his skin. I don't know why I didn't catch that before. I see this with my crossbeak when his nasal passages are blocked with mash and a nasal flush does the trick to release the air. I figure Mic's passages are clogged. While I don't think Mic is a good candidate for a nasal flush, I do have a nebulizer and I bet there's some chicken safe essential oil that would help loosen the crap in his nose.
Yes, his crop is emptying overnight. And he is eating. He had a good crop this morning when I went out to give him the meds. *Phew*
His ears look fine - aside from the cauliflowering. Could there be lingering infection? I'd feel really bad if there were because it was actually two years ago. It took a week to get the debris out, but I don't remember how long we treated for with the terramycin. I don't have any good photos, but attached what I have.
His vent looked clean. No weird poops or poopy feathers. No bugs, wounds. Nothing.
