I've been trying to figure out what is wrong with my silkie roo. I did find out he has bad mites so I am treating him and the rest today. However he also has this odd yellowish green color to his poop. I want to make sure there isn't more that I'm dealing with. He hasn't been crowing since the first day we got him (about a week ago). I thought maybe it was due to just staying off of my Australorp roos radar to avoid conflict....he is a sweet boy and hasn't attacked him but I'm sure he's rather intimidating to a silky roo. And has been less energetic then my others. He has also dispersed water from his mouth twice. I separated him from my others a few days ago...

I'm sorry to here your roo is ill. I've never seen a chicken expell from the mouth unless they were actually dying (not to alarm you but happens when they drop dead). . Do you have him separated and on antibiotics?

I do. He is crated by himself and not super pleased. When I open the door he perks up and wants to go out with me. I feel awful because he is the most gentle and docile boy I've ever had. He actually hasn't even tried anything at all with the ladies, he's beyond submissive...which is okay in some ways and a bummer in others because I wanted to pair him with my hen later. Well that was the plan before this problem arose. I also feel awful because I got him from a rescue so I assumed he was healthy and let him with my other birds at first. Dumb decision on my end because now I am worried about them as well (though they will all be treated tonight for SLM) He's infested with SLM and other mites at least. To the point that his legs are white. I didn't notice it at first I just thought it was mud on his feathers and was going to bath his legs...it was not. I just got back from treating his poor legs and feet and body from the mites. I also have been giving him ACV in his water. I just noticed the poop today cuz this is the first day it's been green like this. I was monitoring it before and it was normal. His back side looks normal. It's not pasty or anything. So I don't know what the color change could be from aside from no longer free ranging or an illness...or the mites. I'm not sure what to give him for this issue either. The local vets around here don't take chickens-so I may have to venture further to find someone who will. Because I am stumped.

Same rooster as in this other post?

I agree, he has SLM. Get some Nu Stock cream and rub that up underneath the scales of the legs and feet to help smother the mites. Repeat at least weekly for a month.

Lice/mites on the body, use the Permethrin. I like to use dust on the birds, spray for their housing.

Check his crop to make sure it's emptying. Him spitting up water, he may have a crop problem. If it's not emptying, then begin treating that symptom. https://www.backyardchickens.com/ar...w-to-know-which-one-youre-dealing-with.73607/

Can you get a fecal float to see if worms and/or coccidiosis are part of the problem?

Yes! Same roo. I treated him yesterday. Along with the others for precaution and the coop. I also soaked his feet and rubbed and coated the feet and legs with Vaseline. . I have checked the crop and could t really feel anything. Which I'm assuming is good It wasn't hard or anything. And I'm unfamiliar with a fecal float. Is that done at the vet? I'm currently trying to find one around my area that will take chickens. So far I haven't. And they are all so booked up. I have a couple more I'd like to try to call today to inquire if they would see him that are a bit further out.

Yes, a fecal float is performed by your vet. Gather some fresh samples of poop for them to analyze.

I'd re-check his crop again in the morning before he's had anything to eat/drink just to be sure it's emptying.

Can he see well? Sometimes the fluff around the eyes needs to be trimmed.

A mite infestation can be very hard on them, they suck the life out of a bird, so do what you can to get rid of them. Giving him a direct dose of poultry vitamins daily for a few days wouldn't hurt.
