Yep another question about my nesting box

So I have decided to make it just one big nesting box (we have 4 chickens) now my question is do I put a floor on it. If I put a floor on the bottom 2x4 it will give the box a depth of 6 in. Leaving it as is will give 8 in. Does this matter? I was thinking a flat bottom would be best for cleaning. It opens from the top and then for cleaning the side also comes down. We have it blocked off due to its still a work in progress

Yes, put a bottom, and then make a back lip that comes nearly halfway up the opening or you'll dump hay and possibly eggs every time you open it. Mine is the same design.
