It's definitely, definitely kitten season.

These guys were dropped on a family, unweaned, no mom, and hungry and dehydrated. We got them, bottle fed them, and they're sacked out in our bathroom. Another month and we can find them new homes.

At least the little buggers are cute.

I love baby animals, but it's ridiculous that paople can't get their animals fixed unless they are professional breeders doing for the betterment of the breed...grr...

10 years ago, my new hubby wanted to get me a kitten for a bday gift, and for company (he had an IT job, and worked 80 hr weeks), so we called the local shelter. The lady on the phone replies "I'm sorry it's not kitten season"

I told her I don't want to HUNT one, I want to ADOPT one.

All I could picture was bugs bunny & daffy duck "rabbit season!" "duck season" "rabbit season!!"

I really, really don't know but wish they would. It'd make my life a lot easier, and I'd sure as heck have more money. (Since I spend all my 'spare' on fixing animals and vetting them and rehoming them. Because the people who SHOULD let them breed and dump them and just make a bigger mess)

Maybe you can take them to a free spay and neuter clinic before you re-home them? Or at least give a pamphlet about it to new owners....

Oh, I am taking them to our low cost clinic and having them fixed before they go anywhere. We're drowning in cats around here -- the most common dumping grounds are county trash dumps, people literally throwing them away. These guys are going vaccinated, spayed/neutered, and with a contract saying they'll come back to me if the new owners can't keep them. No WAY am I letting them go without doing everything I can to make sure they have good lives and don't have a negative impact on the population problem.

And people wonder WHY I preach to everyone about spaying/neutering their pets! It infuriates me that people think animals are disposable!

KUDOS to you for taking care of them!

People are very prone to 'well I'm not part of the problem, I don't dump my pets'. yeah, well, YOU just took homes from the other kittens, who were dumped, with that litter. /rant.

(And thanks. They're adorable and wonderful and sweet. I'll definitely enjoy having them around.)
