Yes...another Ameracauna/EE post...Pleeeeeeeeeeese still look!!!

Ideal sells them as Ameraucanas as well, not Americauna's or some other misspelling and I know mine are not true Ameraucanas....one girl doesn't even have muffs or a beard and they both have willow legs. I think it's safe to say hatchery Ameraucana = EE. They are pretty birds, they are just mongrels... I have no problem with mongrels, I love mine.

Hi Cynthia, Not sure if you were referring to my last post with the quote from MM. I absolutely understand...I have done so much reading on this site and others that I think I officially get it

.

I posted that because MM changed their wording on their descriptions...I was actually glad to see that they were not saying they were Araucana or Ameracauna but a mix. When we ordered the first time (from the 1999 catalog) it was worded differently that made you think you were getting Ameracauna's or Araucana's. The title (Araucana/Americana The Easter Egg Chicken) is still misleading...maybe they will change that next...lol!

Mine are EEs from Ideal (which they sell as Ameraucanas, incorrectly).

I got six this spring, and I'm really pleased with what they sent me. Two are willow-legged with brahma-like hackles and full beards/muffs and lay olive eggs. Two are more partridge/pencilled with slate legs and lay pinkish, almost lavendar eggs, and two are solid white, have willowish legs and have big muffs but no beards. They lay robin's egg blue eggs. One has laid several double-yolks since they reached POL a weeks ago. I'm assuming these last two are heaviest on the ameraucana genes; although, their legs aren't slate.

Re Ideal: I don't know if I got really lucky, had a particularly nice packer that day, if they had a particularly good selection of eggs they were hatching at the moment, or if they consistently offer that kind of wide variety. Very cool though.

I'll take egg pics and post when I get a minute.

loulou, I wasn't referring to you or anyone in particular. I just meant that no matter how many times we discuss it, there is still alot of confusion. I suppose many dont read any posts except whatever ones are new when they log in so they aren't getting the message.

Thanks Cynthia...I can see how when reading my last post about MM someone would think..."doesn't she get it after all this?" LOL

One of the whites (I guess on closer look, she does have a hint of a beard--just not as prominent as the other kinds--which makes her muffs seem larger):

I'll take pics of the eggs when I get a chance.
