I was asked what I thought produced my 98% ratio for hatching the majority of eggs I placed into the incubator.
Without washing the eggs, just gently dropping one at a time in a glass of warm water (not hot) I observed the ones that bobbed to the top and the ones that lay still on the bottom of the glass.
Discarding the floating eggs made a huge difference.
Now....when 19 days old (3 days prior to leaving the eggs lay still on their sides; I took all eggs out and removed them from the egg turner. Again, I lay each egg gently in warm water.
The good eggs will come to the top and usually wiggle a bit. The movement indicated a live chick; however if it is not moving, don't panic as it may simply be unaffected by the temperature and motion change.
Lay on the mesh screen with the temp at 99.5-100 and 50% or better humidity from day 19-21. Works for me! Good luck Lauren
