YESSSSSSSSSS!!! It finally happened!!!!!

Hey Steph!! I got my first egg today 1/3!! I know exactly how excited you are. It seems like I have been waiting forever. I'm sure my neighbors heard me hollering when I found Lucy proudly bok-boking. Now all I need is for Eleanor, Oprah and Tina Turner to start laying and I might be able to make an omlette...Congrats again!

Coincidently, my 6 months old Welsummers gave me my first egg on the same day. A beautiful dark brown egg. Only one problem - it was very cold here and it froze before I found it. Fortunately, I got egg number two today and I got to it before it froze. It was even darker than the first one. I think I'll try to save the shell on this one. Since I only have 3 hens, I thought that 2 eggs in 2 days was pretty good for this time of the year. I haven't added any artificial light and this caught me off guard. It is pretty exciting.

I didn't get any today but I think Ruth my silver penciled is out there trying. In the nest and making a lot of noise!
