Hi, I'm Judy, and I'm happy I finally joined! We purchased a 33 acre farm in 2020 and started raising chickens shortly after. I never knew they had such awesome personalities, or that I would fall in love with them! I am indeed a crazy chicken lady (we only eat the eggs)! We currently have 2 white leghorns, 6 california whites, 3 rhode island reds, 2 barred rocks, 2 orpingtons, 2 ameraucanas, 4 silkies (and 13 chicks), 6 polish, and 6 new jersey giants. We recently let our broody hens hatch some chicks, and that has been so much fun. Some are mixed breed chicks (the only rooster is a rhode island red), and I think we may have a few silkie polish crosses. I can't wait to see what they will look like as they grow. I have my first isolated hen due to bumble foot too. This has been quite the learning process for me, but although she doesn't like not being able to free range, her foot seems to finally be healing. The threads from this group have been immensely helpful to me! Thank you!

Hi there! I am new as well and surprised at how many times I've had to come here for help. Everyone is knowledgeable and kind.
I only have 6 chickens. 1 EE, a barred rock, a buff Orpington, and 2 new chicks, both are RIRs. My baby foundling Pepper ( who started all this) is a rooster of some mixed variety. I worry about his early morning crowing because we are so close to our 3 backyard neighbors. No complaints yet😀.
You are absolutely correct in how fun they are and their antics are hilarious. Personality plus for sure.We are thoroughly enjoying them.
Welcome!!!
