yet another dog attack story

this afternoon i found 1 of my rir hens on the porch steps , didn't think much of it till she didn't get out of the way.(they all like to stay there.) so picked her up and found a gash along one side of her from wing almost all the way to the back.

she does have 3 puncture wounds on that side, mostly the dog just split the skin, have'nt found any wounds on the other side as yet.

so far i have rinsed the wounds and applied some antibiotic and have super glued some of the skin back together. not sure if i should glue the rest togethr and cover the punctures with it or not.

i did give her some tylan 50 injectable antibiotic and a couple of drops of metacam pain med...i have for one of the dogs who has some knee pain.

at this time she is reasting comforably. i do have some pictures. but never seem to have luck getting them on to the posts.

if anyone has any other suggestions i would like to hear them thank you

Don't superglue the punctures because you might trap the bacteria in them.

Do you know who's dog it is?

no i don't know whos dog it is..first saw it about a week ago. think someone might have dumped it.

i didn't put any super glue into the punctures..i was trying to get some of the lose skin together on the opposite side of the tear from the wounds.

i just checked her again and there is a clear liquid dripping out of the torn skin. Not sure what that is about.

just have to keep an eye on her and see what happens...may end up haveing to stich her skin back together.

she has not eaten or drank since bringing her in. Her poo is almost watery. she does have a bit of food in her crop.

I'm so sorry you lost your bird.
Clear liquid without a smell is plasma...it's a part of blood...it had that when I fell and scraped my knee almost to the bone.
She probably went into shock.
