Well, lets see. First off my name is Forrest, My wifes name is Jenice, we have have been married for 21 yrs (to Each other! lol ). We have 2 children, a daughter 17 going on 35, and a 14 yr old son. i am a stay at home dad too, as well as a full time caregiver to my mother who has Alzheimer's and lives with us. we lived in Las Vegas for close to 20 yrs and got tired of the rat race and all that goes with THAT. Jenice stills works in L.V and Makes 140 Mi round trip drive each and every drive back and forth the Vegas. We live about 65 mile outside of Vegas in a smaller town called Pahrump....you can stop laughing now lol. I have been lurking here since about Dec and finally decided to get some chicks for eggs in the beginning of Feb. So we decided it would be best to start out small to see how it goes through the summer with the heat and all. never having had chickens before...Sooo, the wife and i stopped by the feed store one sunday and picked up a barred rock (Jo Jo), a buff orp (Miss Butters) and 2 R.I.R's (Thelma & Louise). i took all that i had learned here and built a brooder w/ heat light, pine shavings, chic starter etc, etc before they came home, then came time for thier BIG House...so i built a pred proof 4X6X5 coop w/ a 6X19 run and a mister system. Good thing im good with tools
. guess we did something right, they are all still happy, healthy and ALIVE!
