Yet More Roosting Poll question/s

I have an 8 foot 2x4 roosting poll. Currently it is turned wide side facing up vs the narrow side and set at 36 inches up.
Should I change it or is it okay? Also 36 inches, good height without any type of ladder?

Sounds good to me although you may want a ramp if you have larger breeds for the trip down as opposed to the trip up.

Should be fine as it is. I do like to add a ramp to a roosting pole for heavy breeds and chicks. The ramp is usually a 1 x 6 with cleats every 4-5".
