Ok, so I set eggs on 5/26. They should have hatched this past Saturday, right? They haven't so I was told to opened one. BIG mistake. It was alive and moving. Still attached to it's nutrients source. It passed just a few minutes later. Now what????

DO NOT TOUCH!! they will probably still hatch just leave them be. give em a few more days!

I had that happen once! and these eggs were a week late and the mom had just pushed it aside. I figured it was dead so I went to crack it open and much to my horror the little thing was still moving and alive. I felt horrible. BUT it was over a week late and the mom had pushed it aside so I posted on here and was told that it would have died anyway. Still feels awful though. Just give them some more time!!!

JakRat - I felt really bad. This is my first hatch ever. Nervous/Excited. Want them to hatch.

Totally understand. I am on my second batch and they are under 2 broody hens right now. It is nerve wracking but just know that nature can be a mean mistress and that is just how it works sometimes. ALOT of people crack open an egg to see what the deal is especially if they are very late, so dont think that no one else has done this. I have heard them called egg-topsys. Sometimes it is necessary so that you can see what happened to the embryo and what not.
