y'know when your driving and....

It has been illegal to use a mobile phone here for years, and it infuriates me when I see someone doing so.... there have been so many needless deaths through people using them........I never switch my phone on when I am driving, nothing can be that important that it can't wait until you have parked up.............

I am a new driver. The number one thing i notice is that EVERYONE and their Grandmother passes me. I almost always drive exactly speed limit, sometimes I speed or go really slow because I can't find the speed limit sign. Yesterday I drove to Band Practice and when i turned into the school property I went 15 mph as posted. My friend was driving behind me and when we got out she admitted to me that it was probably her first time since receiving her license that she had driven under 25 in the school area.

Am I not catching on to something here? My Aunt says its because I don't 'drive like a Texan' yet.

I used to keep a book in the car for those long boring drives across bridges, next to semis things like that.

Imp- OK really, during the infamous traffic jams in Seattle, sometimes on the 520 bridge.

I was recently driving and saw a girl not driving a pickup....she had one foot out the window and two hands texting.....I got away from her as quickly as possible and my kids got the lecture "if you ever do something like that yadda, yadda yadda"

its only illegal to drive and have a handheld phone while in a school zone here. my mom can still use her phone while driving me to school cause she has blue tooth! it is hands free but to quickly open the phone

Cell phone usage for any reason, even hands free, is horribly distracting.

My DH's truck was totaled last year by a 16 year old girl, in an SUV, yapping away on her Bluetooth, too distracted to stop when all the other vehicles did. She hit him from behind, slamming him into the vehicle in front.

The result? THREE vehicles totaled, months of physical therapy and the joy of battling our own insurance company- her daddy didn't insure her because "it was too expensive".

He said he had Geico- after 2 months, Geico finally said no, he never renewed his policy 2 years ago. Daddy did all sorts of delaying and avoidance, and has now gotten off scot-free. And we still see the daughter, cruising in her new SUV, yapping away. All she got was a ticket

I do not use a cell phone when driving anymore. Sorry for the rant, it's my first on BYC!

I was actually going to post about a friend who applied her eye makeup while driving- and then used the rearview mirror and a straight pin to separate her lashes!!!!

I rode with her once and said no way Jose!
