yogurt and other yummies?

Would you be willing to share Miss Prissy's Homemade Yogurt? I've never made yogurt (too lazy!). Do I need a yogurt machine?

You're very welcome! Let me know how you like the yogurt. The only thing I do different is I use the already made all fruit jams or preserves like Polaner and add those to the finished yogurt.

Recently got some blackberry jam from a BYC'er on here (therealsilkiechick) and added that to the last batch. The entire batch was gone by noon the next day!

I do have a yogurt maker ( EuroCuisine ) and sometimes use their yogurt starter but most of the time use plain flavor store bought Stonyfield Farm Organic yogurt. I have used their vanilla when I was out of the starter and the plain and it worked great.

Seems like alot of work for a lazy broad (!!!!!!) like me. Is it an all day ritual? But if it is as good as AngelzFyre says, I'll get out of bed and wash the chocolate from my bonbons off my nightgown

and read the recipe one more time!
No, I'm not lazy. Just spoiled from all the quick ways to cook.

The main time consuming thing is boiling the milk and waiting for it to cool (not long)..other than that it's a breeze. I usually do it while waiting for the clothes to dry or making tea so I'm not bored. I don't do waiting well, LOL.

Once you've done it and gotten used to it, you sure won't mind making it again.

The only time we buy yogurt anymore is for the starter!

Thanks for the pep talk. Maybe this winter when I'm bored outta my mind, I'll try making it. The weather here has been so beautiful (75-80 degrees and SUN for the last 5 days and the next 5.) I gotta be outside. Love it. I made oatmeal and put blueberries in it for my chickens this morning. The little silkie (6wks. old) stood in the middle of the pan scarffing it up and she even sounded like she was growling at the others!! She's the one who peeps incessantly. She's been quiet ever since!!

Mine love any yogurt. I make "chicken treat" - yogurt with oatmeal -cut up grapes apples etc - whatever I have in the fridge.
In the summer I froze it flat and chunked it up into 1/2 inch pieces - they went mad for it!!
I also had extra scrambled eggs the other day and even though it seemed like sacrilege - I mixed it in with their yogurt and oatmeal lol

Mine are very spoiled little chickies!!!!!!!
