So I know I've seen these answers sprinkled around a bit, but I want to make sure I've got the details right.

-Plain yogurt can be given as something of a immunity booster, to help the chicks build up their own set of good gut bacteria, correct?
-You don't give 'em a whole lot, and you don't do it often, and I've seen it suggested that they may like it better with crumbles in? How much would be enough for 7 chicks' first treat?
-Yogurt doesn't require grit?
-Is day 2 too early for yogurt?

I've got a quart in the 'fridge (I make my own

) just waiting to share with them.

Yes it's good for them, for gut flora. And no they don't need grit for it. You could try putting a tsp or so in there and see what happens. If they don't eat it, try mixing it with a tsp or so of chick food, to get them started. I say a tsp just to avoid waste. They can have more than that! Maybe a couple of tablespoons?

They use grit to grind up food, like we use teeth, so if you don't need teeth to eat it, they don't need grit to eat it.

Well I dunno... sometimes I let my yogurt get awful chunky before I eat it

Just joking, though I do tend to eat mine when other people would have thrown it out (my thoughts are if it still smells like yogurt, those lumps are just the good stuff), but I'll make sure to stick with fresh for them.
