Yogurt for chickens

I sprinkle oatmeal over the top and my girls go crazy! When they see the white plastic spoon it's all over, they storm the gate waiting!

Give plain yogurt only. IMO, the fruity kind has sweeteners and/or other artificial things added to it that is not good for the chickens. Mine had their first taste of yogurt at about 10 days or so.

I make my own now, thanks to Miss Prissy's recipe. See any of her posts for the link to the thread under the recipes section. It takes about 45 mins to heat & cool the milk. All but about 10 mins of that time can be "unsupervised". The yogurt cultures take 5-12 hours to thicken the milk.

Try it - it's super delish. And I don't even like yogurt!

I mix my yogurt with the crumbled granola from this recipe: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/granola-bars-recipe2/index.html. Don't eat this around chickens - you'll get mugged for sure.
