Yogurt

Yogurt is wonderful stuff, and I eat it myself, rather than feed it to the chickens. The small flavored yogurt containers with fruit, etc, aren't so good. If you read the ingredient list, it's more about the sugars and less about the good stuff.
Chickens are really not meant to eat much dairy, so give them other stuff instead.

Plain yogurt (non-sweetened) is an excellent, cheap source of probiotics. I mix it with their normal feed once or twice before chicks get their feet on the ground or eat anything other than their starter and also use it immediately after a chick or chicken has had a full course of antibiotics (dairy can inhibit absorption of some antibiotics, so I don't feed dairy until the entire x-number of days worth of treatment is complete) and I also serve it after their bi-annual deworming just to make sure their gut-bacteria is in good shape.

And mine, at least, love it. But I’m stingy with treats. It’s just a dollop on top of a big meal of feed.
Why did the chickens cross the road? Because the lady over there was offering yogurt! My chickens will leave footprints on anything between them and a yogurt laced treat. Because of this weakness of theirs, I've been able to easily hide medication.

They don't digest lactose well. It can give them diarrhea. But if not given as a regular part of their diet, only used occasionally, it can be a convenient and valuable sources of probiotics. The benefit outweighs the drawbacks.
Ty, i hate getting cross information, especially when im learning and helping others. I believe yogurt saved my Guinea i agree it shouldnt be regular , frustrating when you get contradicted in a thread trying to hrlp someone, but hey im just going to stick with lighter subjects better this way ty.
