Hi, We are hatching chicks for the second time using a three-egg incubator. The first time around was a few years ago and everything went smoothly. This time our first chick hatched with no problems and was on its way to getting fluffy (about 5 hours in the incubator.) A second chick to has hatched and it had some yolk left in the egg (it either is not attached or it quickly detached.) It made the inside of the incubator slimy with yolk and of course the two chicks have wallowed in it. The first went from fluffy back to looking wet and after another five hours they don't look any drier. I perhaps too hastily have moved them to the brooder thinking that its just too wet in the incubator for them to dry off. They seemed to be already dry when I moved them except they aren't dry and fluffy- they are dry and caked in yolk. What do I do to help them now? Rub with damp towel? I don't want to make them too cold but I know they need to be cleaned.
