You guys inspired me, thank you! Teaching Through Traditions is born!

I am teary over your post. I am very proud of you and what you are acccomplishing there. What an enormous blessing for those children and for you. God bless you for being a willing vessel of love and devotion for these kids. I can't think of a better way to give these kids a great chance in life than to take them back to a simpler time and reintroduce the foundations and traditions that families shared. It is just beautiful!! Thank you Kate!

Thank you so much! Oh and yes I am familiar with the Freedom Quilt, I have that book in class, I love it! I'm thinking of taking my trading squares to school to try for a first project.

My son found two sewing machines in a pawn shop yesterday for $69 each, they have digital programming and one has 59 stitch patterns the other one he thinks said either 125 or 152, he wasn't sure. I'm going to check them out tomorrow! They told him 10% down and a $2 layaway fee and they would give me 10% off if I show them my school ID. I'm going to take some thread and see if they work and hopefully take a teacher who is familiar with electronic digital sewing machines who can tell me if they are ok. Steven said one is a Brother, one is a Singer and they are both clean and look like new. They have a (serger?) also but I have no idea what that is. I never thought of looking on pawnshops for the machines for the club!

Kate.... just wow! Is there any way I (we) can help you? Need fabric? Rulers? If I lived closer I would put my money where my mouth is and step right up and help. I'd love to be a part of this and support you any way you need.

I can't tell you guys how much your support has meant to our students, the supplies, the support, the hooks, the yarn, the offers warm my heart so much. The PMs from members who prefer to remain anonymous who have sent boxes of left over yarn and hooks to students who treat them like they were made of gold.. You should see them when they open a box of yarn and rub it on their cheek and exclaim how soft it is, I admit I have to excuse myself and go to the restroom or they will see me in tears. I've put in another project proposal on Donorschoose but it's not listed yet, it hasn't been approved yet.

BYC members have got to have the biggest hearts of any group on the Internet or anywhere else.

Wish us luck!! Donorschoose just approved our new project! With the fabrics and such being donated by members here and locals we'll be up and running in no time!! I know a couple of members on here asked me not to mention their names that are sending a couple of things to us, but if it's ok to thank you in public please let us know. The support here is great, you guys care about kids!!
