I finally just gave my farm to my daughter and started a real one outside...

I just wanted to get 6 Red Stars
ended up ordering 12 (11 arrived)
then my hubby got me 2 silky hens and a roo
and next wednesday I have 13 more Red Stars coming
PLUS, the two Silky hens are sitting on a total of 13 eggs (due date 2 more weeks)
I had 8 eggs in the incubator, candled only 4 fertilized...They are due to hatch next week.
So I will have 27 chickens and counting...

9 (Ameracaunas, Black Sexlinks, Rhode Island Red, Silver Laced Wyandotte, Silkies, White D'uccle, Mille Fleur, Australorps, Light Brahma) This number does not include my one mutt hen and my 4 mutt chicks.

5. How long did it take you to accumulate them?
1 year total.

6. And what in the world were you thinking?
Got my first batch...that was the 22, weeded out the roosters...replaced them with hens over time...ehe....have always stayed around 20. As much as it breaks my heart to send a bird away...some just caused problems in my flock and did better in another persons flock. Now I have a nice flock. We only wanted a couple birds....wanted our own eggs when we moved out to the country....well....there are so many breeds and different egg colors! So many pretty birds, so many personalities! I just couldn't stop.....and I'm still not done. xD Two roos and twenty hens. Hurray!
