It was -13 celcius(9F) overnight Wed here. With the windchill it was -25 celcius (-13F). My waterers did not freeze however. The chickens were a balmy 16 celcius (61F) in their back hallway with their own radiant heater. I believe they are happy to be housechooks this time of year.

Saturday is forecast 65/48 Sunday 79/61 Monday 82/62...was pretty chilly past three nights low 20's-high teens...bad for the lemons and satsumas;good for peaches and blueberries! The ladies are still laying and my customers are still buying.

All y'all take care!

Yesterday my waterer that hangs in the open part of my pen was so frozen I couldn't even break the ice...and my hose was frozen, so I had to bring it insdie and put it in the bath tub and run hot water over it to melt the ice, open it and pour out the rest of the frozen stuff! I was in a hurry before I had to leave for work so I left all the leaves and cracked corn that washed off it in the tub...needless to say my daughter (home from college) was not happy about that! At least my chickens had water they could drink yesterday! I move the waterer to the part of their coop I call the extension, the part we added on that I can stand in and it is nearly all covered with that corrogated white plastic, so hopefully the water won't be frozen this moning too, otherwise I'll be defrosting in the bathtub again!! I have too much current on my outside outlet already to add a heated dish so I'll be worrying about this all winter...don't you just love chicken fanatics!!

Arg!

I had to bring my little Roo in last night. He was shivering like crazy and looked completely miserable. My dh wasn't too happy with me.. The water froze even under a lamp. BRRRRR.

-5 (not including wind) here this morning.. I think it might be a weee bit too cold to stand outside and wait for the bus this morning. Hope the chickens don't freeze their little beaks to the metal feeder trying to eat.

Rooster-Red.. been watching you change avatars for a couple of days.. ROTFLMAO!
