You know it' cold when...

"and the goat dozed off on top of a PULLET! "

That's sort of Bambi meets Godzilla...smashing! LOL

You know it's cold when the electronic locks on your car freezes and it takes you ten minutes to figure that out and with nothing else to do, you dip your key in your hot chocolate (the new Milky Way one from Dunkin Donuts) and thaw the lock that way.

When Obelisk is snuggling up with Penny:th

When I read this the first 2 times I kept seeing the words "and the goat dozed off on top of a PULLET! "

You know when it is cold when.......
global warming sounds like a pretty good idea lol

it was so bitterly cold outside last night and our weatherman is predicting 48 to 50 degree temps this week-end and next week! Go figure, just some more of our crazy Mich weather for ya!

Cold here too. 15 degrees this morning....And no stiff chickens, thank God, Universe, Spiritual Highness, or what have you.

Don't fret Luna - my coop was 2 degrees a few days ago your chickens will be fine - however this morning its LOVELY - it was 36 outside when I did my rounds!

I'm trying to look on the bright side of teen temps: Maybe we'll have less skeeters, ticks, and such next summer!

I'm very grateful to whoever suggested using the clear wavy plastic roofing material on the sides of our tractor. I looked through it last night to see my peeps snuggled under the light, cozy & happy. DH draped a tarp over the only open end of the coop, so no breezes in there, either!

Sadly, all the eggs are frozen by the time I collect them. Does that do any harm to the eggs, other than it will never hatch?

Freezing doesn't always mean it won't hatch, there are lots of things that REDUCE hatchability, but not very many that completely obliterate it. So long as it's not cracked, you could try to incubate it, or you could just eat it
