You know it's a bad day when...

had a bad day yesterday, went outside before work to let the animals out..... it was pouring rain, i mean like a down pour:rolleyes:. i open the run and see some water build up on the tarp overhang in the run. follow me so far. then i try and push the water with my arms and hands to drain out.... the run collapses. :barnieyup, at least that part did. the water was much to heavy for the weight of chicken wire and the wood, although strong, could not hold up the gallons of rain.
here i am, soaking wet, have to go into work in an hour. i hear clucking, chickens and ducks are going bonkers wanting out. i cant let them out yet, till i fix the fencing over top.
i crawl under the house porch (extra wood) and search of a long piece. holy crap its still raining, i only need one more piece dang it.
i find it, 30 minutes or so later.
i get out a hammer and nail, attach it back to the top part. staple the fence wire back up.
let all the animals out. they are all giving me the stink eye, as they could see me working in the rain. dang girls, really? really?the stink eye!!

While my day yesterday was not bad it still was a bummer.... I'm digging post holes for my run. I had our propane company come out to mark where the line went to the house as my run fencing is going to be going all the way to the house...... Anyway, I'm digging my FIRST hole of the day (4 to go out of 10) 5 FEET from where the propane line is SUPPOSED to be and I hear a metallic sound when I put my post hole bar into the hole.... Uh Oh!!! I don't hear or smell any propane but after cleaning out the 18" deep hole I can clearly see that I have crushed the propane line, again that was SUPPOSED to be 5 FEET away.....
I call the propane company's emergency line and am told that they will get someone out to me today (Sunday) or tomorrow (Monday)... I said, excuse me, you folks marked where the line was supposed to be, it was not, I hit it, and you won't come out today???

2 hours later a service guy shows up and says he is the fellow that came out and marked my line and he says that he really couldn't find my line with his metal detector!!!! He said he marked it where he would have put it based upon his 33 years of experience... Of course I was not told about this until AFTER I hit the line which unfortunately was exactly where my next post needed to go!!

2 more hours were spent making my post size hole much bigger to be able to pull out the line so it could be cut and then repaired then fixing the line....

Another 35 minutes goes by getting the tank hooked back up to the line, hooking the line back up to the house and leak testing it all.

He leaves, I get the post in, I get only 2 fence panels up, and 1 cross member to support the chicken wire I'm putting on top when I realize I'm running out of time to get our 2 acre yard mowed before the thunderstorm moves in....

I didn't stop working on the coop in time, it started raining fairly hard by the time I only had half the yard mowed ;o) Now I get to try to play catch up on the yard this week so I don't have to use any more weekend days on anything but the coop and run.... If I could get 1 solid weekend, both days to work on the coop and run it will be done ;o)

Life can be quite the pain sometimes.... But, c'est la vie....

You know it's a bad day when.... you have a county sherriff's detective sitting in your driveway taking pictures.

Always a good day around here, just hubbo and I. He plays outside most of the time, and I stay in most of the time. He will come in about 3pm and tell me about his day, and I'll tell him about mine. We eat supper, and veg out in the living room watching TV till about 7pm. I'll go in one bedroom and get on the computer, and he goes to bed. We meet again over coffee in the morning, and talk about what he's gonna do outside today, and what I'm gonna do in here today. Its such a comfortable relaxing life. We don't have bad days.

This is the day that the Lord has made, we shall rejoice and be glad in it.
