When you go through TSA screening with your shoes on and they don't ask whether or not you are over 75. I didn't get asked. The Princess was asked both times.

I guess getting old and 'looking' old are two different things.

Way long ago in a moment of pique Mom said to me: "People think the worst part of getting old is the infirmity and dependence on others. That sucks, but the worst thing is that so many you care for have already passed." I didn't get it then, but I get it now. Two years ago my 'blood' brother died of ALS - horrible death. Today a call informed me that my childhood best friend/shadow has just died. I know that I'm getting old, and this really sucks. Mom you were right.

When you go to a community theater production and note that most there are using walkers or canes, and when you comment: "These folks are really old" your spouse says, "We're that old too."
