you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours

If you are trying to get better placement, make sure your robot.txt file includes the page you have the links on.

Also the more the keywords, description and the content on your first page complement each other the more the little robots will like you.

So lets say for argument sake a site had the following key words

keywords
rare chickens, chickens, dominiques, white faced black Spanish, serama, chickens for sale, bantam chickens, bantams, Sebrights, Black Stars, Golden Sebrights, breeder, chicken breeder

Your meta description might be:

I specialize in selling rare breeds of chicken like; Serama, White-Faced Black Spanish bantam, and bantam Dominiques, Golden Sebrights, and Black Stars.

This is the content on your home.htm page, thats where I took the keywords and description from.

I am a small backyard breeder in Eastern Tennessee specializing in rare breeds of chicken. I own Serama(the worlds smallest chicken),White-Faced Black Spanish bantam(wfbs), and bantam Dominiques(a bantam is a miniature sized chicken), all being rare. I also own Golden Sebrights, Black Stars, three bantam mixes, and two standard sized mixes. Here are links to the descriptions of the rare breeds that I sell:

Since your home page is not you default page (not the page your URL brings you to, make sure thats in your robot.txt too.

These are suggestion made by an idiot so I wouldn't follow any of them.
