Yeah, see, no offense - but this is one of those things you gotta learn.
Most accomplished chicken wranglers keep a separate pair of shoes/boots just for the chicken yard. You'll hear people tell you this, but out of convenience, mostly, you don't listen.
"I 'aint changing out of my sandals just to go feed the chickens. I don't need no stinkin' boots!"
Then your foot slips and goes off the side of the flip-flop... into a pile of wet poo. Or the hens take a liking to your nail polish.
But worse, you then track their poo back to the house. There are warnings about that on all the bio-security sites. Poo should stay in the coop, and nothing else should come in.
Call it a lesson learned. I prefer a cheap pair of rubber boots which I can hang out side the hen yard. I got mine at the thrift store for a few dollars.
