I guess 1 of my young 6 month old Muscovy duck female's have started laying I found an egg under my hay feeder and it is Sure not the chickens laying that big of an egg. But it is not as big as normal duck eggs will It get bigger as she lays or gets older.

I have never seen a duck egg in person they are bigger then chicken eggs that is perfect I love chicken and duck eggs I am hoping to have around 50 birds.

I have 30 birds right now. 22 chickens 8 Muscovy duck's.

But which is funny my older drake Muscovy male has been wondering over to my neighbors to visit with her female he comes back over to my home but then leaves like 20 minutes later is there any way to keep him home other then penning him up I really hate penning birds up like I will have to if he doesn't stay home.

Gee maybe the neighbors would pay you a stud fee on him. Their duck must be a real temptress

yeah I know she is dragging him over there every day like she is in heat or something but I would never think he would leave his mated female he has been with for all his life.

but the other 7 Muscovy ducks stay home.

Hello :frow and Welcome to BYC! Check out the BYC duck section. https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/42/ducks Duck and chicken eggs both tend to start with smaller eggs that gradually get larger as the bird continues to lay (not counting the occasional giant double egg). Sounds like your older boy has a wandering eye.

yep he does I am going to start making a pen for him to stay then I am going to clip his wings so he can't fly over. and then bring his female that he likes over and stick them together in a nice dog house with nice warm straw to lay and sleep in and probably put a door on the dog house so when it is night time I can close them in so I am going to start tomorrow.
