young chick broken leg couldnt keep up, I isolated 5 days now. leg is getting better he can run by flapping but not keep up. I put shim out with mom every day for longer and longer he want to go but I can still catch shim and he cant get out of the box yet, haha s/he will need to climb a tree to roost. s/he can poo eat drink hunt alerts to sound, but keeps up with mom in spirts, I am trying to increase his stamina, but dont want to loose the window to get him back with mom. he will be pecked to death by the other chicken if he is alone. or the mongoose. I have two sitting hens, who go after the chicks even when mom is there, and he is newly 'fixed'? dont want a set back. im going day by day but when is right? does he have to be fully up to speed? what does that look like? and if I keep him locked up will s/he ever be able to go back to mom? s/he is doing well. thanks for any thoughts I dont know how to teach it to be a wild chicken.
