Ok so I'm having sudden issues with a hen that started yesterday. Began as loss of balance, walking sideways, falling on her rump, & picking one of her feet up & pulling it up to her body a lot. This morning she cant walk or sit up right. Stuck on her side practically. I'm praying this isn't something nasty like Marek's. I would have no clue where something like that would come from any way. She hasn't been exposed to anything new that I'm aware of. I oiled her up & quarantined her with food & calcium supplement thinking it could be being egg bound at first as she's just coming to laying age, but she's obviously deteriorating. Any suggestions?

How old is she? You must know, that MDV is very, very, common and there are some researchers that are saying that almost 100% of chicken flock are infected with this virus. So why some flock have the disease and other don't? The answer is that one of the reasons that causes the virus to erupt, and seas to be dormant(lysogenic) is the stress levels of the chicken. The MDV belongs to the Herpes virus family, that mainly erupts when the immune system is in a deficiency state, and this deficiency of the immune system is mainly influenced from the stress levels. As the stress levels are high, more stress hormones, like Cortisone, is secreted in the chicken = more immunodeficiency. One of the most stressful things in a pullet is the beginning of laying! And I think that this is the situation with your pullet. Sorry!
Isolate the pullet, try to give here some vitamins and electrolytes, with som riche food, crushed boiled egg, tuna fish, code liver, cat food, and see if there is any improvement.
