Young Hen in serious condition

It’s not crazy. I love my animals, too. I’m so sorry if yours is suffering. Can you offer her something irresistible like live meal worms or raw egg?
Her favorite is egg or breads but she’s just not ready for it. She did drink a lot of water today!! She drank enough to at least have a watery poop. Eyes are bright and comb still red even though pretty shriveled. I think she’s a little stronger today. A few steps taken at least.

Yes, sounds like this lovely has a reproductive problem. I’m sorry. I would try calcium citrate plus D3 for a few days, just in case there is a calcium issue. You could try draining her abdomen, but that would only provide temporary relief. Is this girl a beloved pet? If so, you might consider an avian vet, but the long term prognosis may not be good.
How does her poop look? A GI infection is another possibility, so you could always try a round of antiibiotics.
That is good news. :)
Do you have any Poultry NutriDrench or other vitamins with electrolytes? It is good that she is drinking. You can mix a lot of water in some chicken feed so that if she does take some, she will get more food and water.
I do have drench! Thanks for the reminder! I’ll also try the food but scared to push her system too far. I’ll add food in the morning but drench now. Thanks!

Sounds like she had an egg break in her or is developing peritonitis. If it’s the former, she could have had an infection and is fighting it off. I’ve had chickens recover from a lethargic period from that and be good as new. One stopped laying for the rest of the year though, but started back up again after her molt. My bird with peritonitis died a few weeks after symptoms arose.

Chickens are tougher than they look. Good luck.

Also, I forgot to mention that she’s not gasping today!! That’s most important as last night I thought she was not going to survive. Maybe the long soakings I have her yesterday helped her. I haven’t felt her abdomen today because of all of the drama yesterday. I’m trying to handle her as little as possible so she doesn’t get upset. I’ll wait until she’s sleeping to check her.
Thanks!
**update! She ate her scrambled egg tonight! I’m excited that she’s doing better!

Yeah unfortunately my only chicken I’ve lost was due to an egg burst inside. She survived but had complications off and on for about a year before she died.
I’ve lost other chickens from dogs and wildlife because they free range over several acres in daylight hours.
This little girl ate her scrambled egg sometime late evening! I’m very hopeful that she’s going to recover. Thank you for your reply.

I am glad that she has improved some and is eating. I would continue giving some calcium daily for several days. If you have any vitamin B complex, you can crush or grind 1/4 tablet daily and mix with some egg which may help her appetite and help. Hopefully, she will feel stronger.

I think you should check her crop I found out today that if the crop is like swelled that the chicken has like an egg stopped up there. Hope the chicken feels better soon!!

Sounds exactly like an egg has broken inside.
We lost a beautiful lady to that not long ago.
Be sure to offer her diced banana as the potassium does help somehow to soften or absorbed any shell stuck inside.
Watch for bleeding in poos as the shell can cut her and that infection is hard to survive.
Good luck, please keep us updated!
Prayers for you and your sweet girl.
