8 month old partridge cochan, raised from day-old chick, with 6 other chicks (joining my existing flock of 21).
She sequestered herself in one of the nesting boxes 3-4 days ago and hasn't show any interest in normal activities since. I pull her out in the mornings and I've seen her eat a little, but she returns to the box fairly quickly. I can pick her up and hold her without resistance, and, at times she seems like she's shivering even though the temps have been mostly in the high 40s - low 80s. Her comb is dark red and very warm.
I walk with her in the afternoon sun but soon after I release her she heads back to the box. She mostly seems lethargic, acting broody but hasnt laid any eggs since she's been there (all of the other young hens are laying regularly). I've checked her vent and can't feel that she's eggbound and her abdomen is soft. I did give them some overripe bananas before this started, but no others in the flock are showing any abnormal behavior. Any ideas?
