I came home to find my 1 year old hen dead.
She was a black star and has only been laying the last 3 months.
She seemed healthy and normal. I knew one of my hens stopped laying for a week or so and out of the two I have that lay that color she was the one that would no longer do her submissive squat and didn’t let me catch her anymore. So I thought it was her.
All other behaviors were the same. No evidence of pain.
I got home and she was dead. May have died around noon.
I can’t find any body harm or external signs. Her crop seems empty like maybe she didn’t eat today.
A clear-ish yellow liquid is seeping a little from her vent. Don’t know if it’s from dying.
Has anyone else have something like this?
