I wouldn't bother with a splint (did you check the thread linked to with the bowling ball bag sling?). If the leg is splinted (held in one position) and splint is not essential (used to stabilize reduced fracture), she could end up gimpy/arthritic from compensating for the lack of ROM. Sounds like she's making progress. Most important is just keeping injured area clean and improving appetite (chooks are pretty tough - usually either die quick or get better). Just use the box sling at night and keep her on soft/clean bedding during day.
