Young hens have Difficulty breathing

Where did your chicks come from? Do you have other birds and have you ever had one with a respiratory infection? Do you see any bubbles in eyes, nasla drainage, or hear rattly breathing? I am hearing stridor and sneezing or chirping. Stridor can simplepy be from getting a small piece of feed stuck in the airway, mucus, or bronchial swelling. Because of the sneeze, it may be from a respiratory disease.

Mycoplasma or MG is a common one, but there are both viral and bacterial diseases, and sometimes a fugus from mold can also cause respiratory problems. MG can be passed in hatching eggs, or exposure to a carrier. Testing is the best way to know what they are dealing with. Antibiotics are only affective against bacterial infection. Tylosin or tylan, and a few others are helpful against MG. MG is a disease for life, and survivors may not achieve their full potential, but are also carriers.
