Young laying hens

How long do you wait to incubate just now laying hens first eggs?

If they are a hen’s first eggs it’s really recommended not to incubate those eggs. But if you want to do it anyway, I would think it’s the same as any other egg.

Oh you mean how long to wait until they begin to lay normal size eggs? That would depend on the hen itself. Once the eggs look decent size then incubate them.

If you mean how long do you wait to incubate an egg once it has been laid, I usually incubate them the day they were laid or I wait 3-5 days to collect as many eggs and then I incubate a whole batch.

Not sure if I understood your question.

I assume you have a cock/erel...that has been mating your pullets??
Have you checked the yolks for fertility to be sure he's 'doing his job'?
It's best to wait at least a few weeks after onset of lay to incubate pullet eggs.
Chicks may be smaller but usually catch up.

FYI.....semantics, maybe, but can be important communication terms when discussing chicken behavior.

Female chickens are called pullets until one year of age, then they are called hens.

Male chickens are called cockerels until one year of age, then they are called cocks(or cockbirds or roosters).

Age in weeks or months is always a good thing to note.

Ok got it. Hiw do you check the yolk to see if he is doing his job? He is about 6 months and so is the pullet. Thank You. Im super excited because they are Lavenders

There will be a bullseye on the yolk.
