Crookadoodle
Chirping
Hi everyone,
I have a young pullet named Munchkin, she is a mixed breed and was hatched on April 23rd so almost 6 months old. She started laying small blue/green eggs about a month ago and had been laying regularly the last 2 weeks almost daily. Over a week ago she switched laying spots to my porch, and a few days ago began sitting there hours before laying an egg. The last three days has started sitting there in the morning and not leaving until brought to the roost. No eggs being laid at all.
At first I thought maybe broody ecen though she is so young, however she doesnt growl or act defensive if approached or picked up, she doesn't peck and when I place an egg near her, she doesn't tuck it under like my other broodies.
I checked today to see if I could feel an egg that could be stuck, about an inch or so in I couldn't feel anything and she doesn't seem to be pushing or standing like a penguin so I don't think she is egg bound.
She is pooping normally, eating if I bring her food and will drink if I take her to the drinker, I did see he leave once on her own today but came back within a couple minutes as she does if I move her.
Checked for mites and lice, none present. Her comb and wattles seem as they normally do, I have looked her over for injuries and I cant find anything. She is just not acting her normal free ranging self and I'm wondering if I'm missing something. Below are some pictures of her in her spot.
Thanks for any insight!
