im not the type thats best with seeing blood.

You said you were letting the big girls and little girl interact freely. If you only had one small / young girl in with the bigger ones, that's like painting a bull's eye target on her ...

Not sure if it was a mis-type or if I didn't understand correctly, but don't put her back in w/ the big girls until she is COMPLETELY healed, and preferably not alone with the big girls at all. Sounds like you may need to separate part of your run/coop off for the little ones until they've grown a bit more and may be able to better defend themselves, or at least get away from the big girls.

Yes - I basically sectiond off a portion of the coop that only the babies can get into/out of - their "Brooder Box"... Up until lately, I had them only getting supervised visits, usually one adult at a time, but recently, there hadnt been anything bad happen so I opened the door to the brooder box were the babies could get in/out but the adults couldnt. I also left the run door open so there could be interactions. The girls usually stay outsie, so I thought it wouldnt be so bad.

Dont worry, she wont be going back in untill her feathers are grown and everything. Untill then, she is going to have a brooder inside, and her calmest/most docile hatchmates will visit every day.

jay1995 - Im contemplating doing just that - but I have confidence that she will get better. She is still very young - 4 months - and Im hoping she will recover enough to eventually be put back with the flock someday.

Feathers Acres - Im sorry - I did have it on the post but when I edited the title I got carried away and erased it. I'll go put it back up, thanks for telling me

JennsPeeps - Thanks so much for the advice. I think its still bleeding, so I will wait untill tomorrow to offer asprin water.

Missouri Maiden - Thanks so much!

Update - She has stood up and walked around, jumped down off the bed without my permission

......I got a better look, and there appears to be a knot right above the wound. It feels hard, and that in itself scares me......I think I can see her spine. She seems to have trouble balancing every now and then - and she isnt carring her wings right. But, I did get her to drink and eat a little yogurt.......

I will try to get pictures of everything up by tommorrow.
