I have a young rooster who is almost four months old. In recent weeks he’s been developing his crow.

It used to sound like a kazoo, then seemed to be coming along, but now it sounds troubled.

I massaged his throat today.
He is moving about, behaving, eating, drinking, and pooping properly.

One video is what he sounded like Saturday…pretty good

The other video is today…

Any ideas?

crowing ok

I can't access the lnks but have had the impression that learning to crow can make them hoarse. It doesn't last long before they start to really belt out the crow.
Can you have a listen again? I changed video host

If he is otherwise acting fine I'd chalk it up to a teenager's voice cracking. Heck when my RIR was learning he sounded like somebody was trying to strangle him at times.

He sounds normal for his age. Some cockerels over extend there crows through out the day and stress there vocal cords. He's just practicing his crow to find the right pitch as he gets older.
