I am very worried for my 10 month old lavender Aracauna rooster who appears to be sick and hasn’t eaten in 3 days (at the time of writing). His symptoms are:
- frequently sneezing each day
- empty crop for 3 days and counting
- lethargy
- semi-hard mass found yesterday in rooster’s crop from eating garbage from our recycling bin, which has passed down a day later.
- one obstructed nostril
- cracked black scab from bumblefoot on one foot, which has been properly tended to 3 days prior with vet wrapping and Betadine.
No other symptoms were found- no visible lice or mites and his comb is still bright red as always. Although, it has been a few months since he has had his (preventative) dewormer. I have one other chicken which has none of the above symptoms.
My best guess is that my rooster is fighting a major internal infection and/or having digestive problems. I don’t know what to do as the Avian vet close by is a minor monopoly and charges outrageous prices. Please tell me what else i should look for and how to help my chicken recover.
