Young rooster losing neck feathers?

Hello again.

I’m away at college at the moment, so my chickens are being taken care of by the co-owners at the moment.

My mom just brought to my attention that my rooster Marigold has lost/is losing some feathers on the back of his neck? I’ve looked it up and some sources say it could be pests, but so far she’s said she doesn’t see any, and none of the other chickens are showing any signs/symptoms. I also saw one lady said it might be a mini molt? I was wondering if anyone else had heard anything about this or if anyone knows what’s going on.

I got him as a chick at the beginning of June, so he’s just barely four months old. There’s no blood or wound that she can see and while the ladies are interested in it sometimes, they aren’t aggressive and it doesn’t seem to bother him at all. I’ve attached two photos taken from a video my mom sent me.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Looks likes a slight neck molt to me. At 4 months he's probably still getting in his adult feathers, and molting out baby feathers.

Your cockerel's just molting. I have 2 roos who have the same molt. He'll be fine!

Thank you! I wasn’t sure because I feel like everyone says that they don’t molt until the second year.

That’s a relief to hear, this is my first time with chickens and there’s so much conflicting info out there! It’s reassuring to know other people’s birds go through the same things
