Since I am new to the duck world, I was hoping someone could give me their opinions on the conformation of my ducks. I am trying to learn as much as possible and this website has been a wonderful tool. The black runner drake and the butterscotch call drake are maybe three months old...I don't know the exact dates. I was wondering if the black drake's brownish colored feathers will fall out and be replaced with blacker feathers? Any advice is welcome, as I am not particularly sensitive. Of course, above all else I would like happy ducks, but I thought this would be a good learning experience. Thanks!

The runner's stance isn't ideal. Is that white on his neck? Points would be deducted for that.

I think that is just the lighting on his neck...it was kinda shady when I took the pictures. His tail should be tucked under more, correct?

Yes that's correct. Have you weighed him yet? He looks like he may weigh more than the standard.

I don't have an official weight, but yes, I think he is "chubby" too. I feed them only once a day...16% with a small amount of oats and wheat, but they are outside so I would assume worms also.

Actually if there were white in the outer plumage it would be a disqualification not a defect.

Thank You for the Clarification NYREDS.

RLF NYREDS is very knowledgeable in showing and should be able to answer all of your questions.
