I know this is impossible, but don't obsess over it. They'll lay when they are good and ready and not before. You'll just be surprised one day to see an egg in the nest or on the ground somewhere.Still no eggs... I guess a watched pot never boils!
Love this! My BR are almost 17 weeks but they have much smaller comb and waddles and are still pinkish, not red.One of my barred rocks started laying at 16 weeks, the other 2 about a week later and the RIRs at 19 weeks. They are 22 weeks now, all 6 give me an egg per day. View attachment 3904489
Oh wow. This pic was at 16 weeks and 4 days. I guess they develop at different rates and when they feel like itLove this! My BR are almost 17 weeks but they have much smaller comb and waddles and are still pinkish, not red.
You're 100% correct. I'm trying to be patient. I've had such ups and downs with these chicks- including bad case of coccidosis where I lost 2 before I saw any obvious symptoms. They survived a hurricane, though! It's been a journey.I know this is impossible, but don't obsess over it. They'll lay when they are good and ready and not before. Just take good care of them and they'll get there. I'm currently on my 4th generation of chicks, so I've seen it enough times.
Here's mine at 16 weeks 5 days... I read it's good for them to mature later. Or so I try to remind myself hahaOh wow. This pic was at 16 weeks and 4 days. I guess they develop at different rates and when they feel like it![]()
