Youngest rooster is crowing and he's so loud I can hear him through the walls of our home.

Our youngest rooster has finally gotten his crow perfected and it is way beyond loud. Our dominant roo has a nice raspy crow that you can only hear outside. The new kid has this high note that cuts through the house at 5 am every morning, every.... morning.... I can hear him from a block away. If I'm in the driveway sitting in the car with the windows up I can hear him crowing from the back of the property. He likes to perch on the front deck up on the banister near the front door and crow towards the street. I KNOW all our neighbors can hear him.

Do roosters get quieter as they get older? I hope so. If this one wakes up the baby one more time he's going to freezer camp.

Grow quieter as they grow older??? Maybe a little, if they feel established and do not have competition. It really depends. I have one who's crow is alright, but he like to sing with the hens. That is shrill and loud and carries, maybe better then his crow. And now his son is doing it too! Well at least they don't sing at night, just crow.

Oh bummer...I think you just chose a keeper out of several and already ate the rest?
I hope not and maybe you can pick another.

Now that is a good set of lungs :)

Unfortunately you are correct. We've already put two of them into the freezer. We still have a young BO rooster but he's rather timid and when he does get a hen away from the others he goes all gang-land beat-down on her so he'd going to the freezer with his brothers just as soon as I can catch him.
