Youngsters Growing Up with Mama (Pics)

Glenda's babies are 7 weeks old now, one Black Orp and three barred Easter Eggers. Got a couple of pics today and one of the Blue Orp chick who is with my other broody. I must have taken twenty-five pics just to get these four that weren't blurry.

For those who don't know Glenda, she is my Blue Orp/Buff Brahma cross and a fabulous mother.

Hey, lockedhearts, in the first pic is your black Orp cockerel!

So, any ideas on the sex of this 5 week old blue Orp? Seems girly to me.

Ya know I have a soft spot for those BR's and any of the Orps! Wow!! That roo is gonna be HUGE!!! You say he's the same age as the rest of the girls you hatched out?

Yup! He's gonna be a big'un!

*note to self....must add Blue Orp's to the flock next year.* What a pretty bird! And, I agree...definitely looks girly!

Yes, the black Orp is the same age as the EE chicks. Amazing, isn't he? That boy has some drumsticks!

I have one BYC member who cannot have roosters and we are waiting till I know for certain the sex of Orps and the EEs, at which time, hopefully, there will be two girls for her to come take home with her. After that, there may be an extra chick or two.

The only one I plan to keep for sure is the Delaware chick with Dusty.
