Then it would be some kind of squash.

BTW all pumpkins are squash but not all squash are pumpkins.

I had a Box Elder come up in my garden 2 years ago. There are no other Box Elders here or near here. I blame birds for depositing the seed.

Maybe it's a hybrid? I don't know but a bird probably deposited the seed. The past two years, I've had flowers growing in the cracks on my front sidewalk, and it's flowers I didn't plant

There are some bush type pumpkins available.

I grew a pumpkin several years ago called Autumn Gold Bush. Looked odd to me because as the pumpkins formed they were yellowish instead of the dark green I was used to seeing. It only vined out about 4 ft. As the pumpkins matured they turned bright orange and were much larger than the pie pumpkins I usually grow.

Have you purchased any pumpkins at a farmer's market for your chickens?
Sometimes plants just pop up in my yard. I assume from birds or squirrels.

I'm pretty sure your chickens will enjoy any pumpkins or squash that you don't want!

Wait. I was given a pumpkin, last October, which I put in the run for their enjoyment. Aha!

I repotted the New Big Dwarf. The site I bought the seeds from says 60 days to maturity. All other sites say 90 days to maturity.

At this time it still hasn't blossomed. I am starting to believe the 90 days sites.

I'm really hoping for some rain tomorrow. It's in the forecast. I need it to soften the clay clods left from planting tomatoes. I can smash them down so that I don't trip over them!

If we get rain, then I can spread mulch to help keep in the moisture as well as keep down the weeds.

I got my carrots thinned today and got in a little weeding. Wish I had birds I could feed the weed sprouts to!

We finally got a rain that has broken our drought. Wife has been picking our thornless blackberries and some blueberries too. She has put up a lot of broccoli too making use of some of the leaves to go with the tender stalks and buds.
