Wait. I was given a pumpkin, last October, which I put in the run for their enjoyment. Aha!There are some bush type pumpkins available.
I grew a pumpkin several years ago called Autumn Gold Bush. Looked odd to me because as the pumpkins formed they were yellowish instead of the dark green I was used to seeing. It only vined out about 4 ft. As the pumpkins matured they turned bright orange and were much larger than the pie pumpkins I usually grow.
Have you purchased any pumpkins at a farmer's market for your chickens?
Sometimes plants just pop up in my yard. I assume from birds or squirrels.
I'm pretty sure your chickens will enjoy any pumpkins or squash that you don't want!
